In addition to the annual special events we sponsor, members of the Dads Club donate their time and energy to several projects and activities in support of DeGolyer elementary throughout the school year.
Teacher's Lounge Renovation
Under the direction and leadership of Jill Hanrahan,  dads Oscar Munoz and Jerome Crowe donated their time and/or supplies to revitalize the DeGolyer Teacher's Lounge making it a more welcoming and comfortable place for the teachers and staff of DeGolyer.

Custom Bench and Stonework
Dads Kevin Wiley and Jeff Clardy headed up the effort to install a brand-new round bench and custom stonework at the front of the school to help spruce up an otherwise unremarkable Oak tree surrounded by a well-worn patch of dirt.

Degolyer Garden
In his very first year with the Dads Club, rookie Dad Danny Hurley created a one-of-a-kind organic garden with help from a crew of eager DeGolyer students (and a few Dads to boot).

Classroom reading
One big way the Dads Club supports the teachers at DeGolyer is by offering our services as classroom readers. On any given morning, you're likely to find a Dads Club member regaling a group of DeGolyer students with tales straight from their favorite book. The teachers love the time to catch up on other tasks and the kids love hearing from one of the Dads.

W.T. White homecoming parade
Every year the Dads Club lends a hand building the DeGolyer float for the W.T. White homecoming parade. This year everybody involved outdid themselves by winning first prize.

General Upkeep and Beautification

  • In 2005 Dads Club members helped repaint the exterior of DeGolyer elementary.
  • In 2006 Dads Club members paid $24,999 for new swings and a new addition to the playground, practically doubling the size of the playground.
  • In 2007 Dads Club has done a number of items including: trimming the trees, planting bushes, adding a sprinkler system to the courtyard, adding a round bench and stonework to the American Elm tree in the front of the school, adding additional auditorium stage lighting, remodeling the teachers lounge, buying toner for teachers printers, buying $5000 worth of Saxon Math books for 4th & 5th graders, treating the DeGolyer teachers and staff to a teacher appreciation dinner in December, supporting the DeGolyer Cub Scouts, paying for the Kinders and 1st to have the Big Red Barn, paying for the 4th & 5th graders to see the Opera in March, paying for the Kinders to go to the Dallas World Aquarium, as well as paying for field trips for other grade levels.
